In this webinar, Mark will illustrate each of the eight types of waste with a story from his work with healthcare systems around the world. The webinar will focus on the definitions of waste and how to identify that waste. More importantly, examples will be shared about reducing or eliminating these forms waste - for the benefit of patients, staff and clinicians, and the healthcare organizations themselves.
Mark Graban
Mark Graban is a internationally-recognized expert in the field of “Lean Healthcare,” as a consultant, author, keynote speaker, and blogger. Mark joined the software company KaiNexus as their “Chief Improvement Officer,” to help further their mission of “making improvement easier” in healthcare organizations, while continuing his other consulting and speaking activities.
Mark graduated from Northwestern University in 1995 with a BS in Industrial Engineering and later earned an MS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
He is author of the Shingo award-winning book Lean Hospitals: Improving Quality, Patient Safety, and Employee Engagement (2nd edition) and his second book, Healthcare Kaizen: Engaging Front-Line Staff in Sustainable Continuous Improvements was published in July, 2012. A new companion edition, The Executive Guide to Healthcare Kaizen: Leadership for a Continuously Learning and Improving Organization will be available in mid 2013.
Mark has worked as a consultant to healthcare organizations throughout North America and Europe, teaching and implementing kaizen and other Lean management practices. He was previously a Senior Fellow with the Lean Enterprise Institute and the Healthcare Value Network and continues as an LEI faculty member. Mark is also the founder of the popular LeanBlog.org and its podcast series.
