What Is MSA Measurement System Analysis?
Measurement Systems Analysis, or MSA, is a statistical method to assess whether a measurement system is suitable for its intended purpose. MSA helps us to recognize that total variation is a sum of actual variation of a product, process, or system and the measurement system variation. Unless we address variation in the measurement system itself, our attempts to improve process variation will be ineffective. Learn the importance of the five characteristics of a measurement system and the difference between attribute and variable data MSA.

Gage R&R, which stands for Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility, is a statistical tool for evaluating a measurement system for continuous or variable data. Learn how Gage R&R studies the characteristics of a measurement system including accuracy, repeatability, reproducibility, stability, and resolution, to identify variation between measurement devices and the people using them. Learn the three key points when preparing a Gage R&R, how to interpret its results, and when to repeat a Gage R&R.
