Value Stream Mapping

Val­ue Stream Map­ping (VSM) is a holis­tic, step-by-step process for iden­ti­fy­ing and elim­i­nat­ing waste in the val­ue chain to max­i­mize cus­tomer satisfaction. 

VSM is both a visu­al map­ping tool for gain­ing vis­i­bil­i­ty into oper­a­tional process­es and a man­age­ment prac­tice that aims to uni­fy the entire orga­ni­za­tion around the same goals.

It plays an impor­tant role in Lean man­age­ment, allow­ing orga­ni­za­tions to dia­gram both the cur­rent and future state work­flow that takes a product/​service from idea to completion.
