What Is MTBF?

Mean Time Between Fail­ures, or MTBF, is a key indi­ca­tor for the health of a plant main­te­nance sys­tem. MTBF tells us the aver­age time between fail­ures of a repairable unit or com­po­nent. Track­ing and improv­ing MTBF is a cen­tral part of TPM and build­ing a strong Planned Main­te­nance function.
