Douglas Dynamics’ Story
As an industry leader in the world of trucking for over 75 years, Douglas Dynamics was looking to consistently deliver on innovation, productivity, and support. With 5 manufacturing locations, 15 installation & distribution centers, and 1800 employees across the midwest and east coast, lean manufacturing was imperative to stay ahead and continuously improve.
Using 5S methods learned from Gemba Academy, Douglas Dynamics reduced waste and clutter within their manufacturing lines. And to help streamline worker areas, visual management was implemented to improve productivity and safety. They then took the improvement successes gained in their manufacturing divisions and applied these methods across to other departments. This increase in employee awareness of waste and improvements accelerated their growth across the board.
