Am I a good candidate for a Gemba Academy Yellow Belt?
A good Yellow Belt candidate has a strong interest in improving processes and eliminating waste in order to help the organization reach efficiency goals.
How long will it take to complete the Yellow Belt Certification?
This is an 8‑week course that can be completed in less time, depending on the candidate’s availability to complete the course work. If the candidate can devote one hour per day, five days per week, the course will be finished in less than four weeks. The total workload, including making improvements in the workplace, is about 16 hours.
What does a Yellow Belt candidate need in order to be successful with this certification?
Candidates will need the following in order to be successful:
Time scheduled every day to complete the coursework
Email (to correspond with coaches as needed and also to receive messages from Gemba Academy).
A computer and broadband internet to access Gemba Academy
PowerPoint (or similar slide deck software) for deliverables and final report
A simple camera (a typical mobile phone is more than sufficient)
Processes to improve or problems to solve using the tools and methods presented in the coursework.
Will I need to repeat these topics if I later decide to get my Gemba Academy Green Belt Certification?
There will be no need to repeat this coursework when you upgrade to a Gemba Academy Green Belt. The same course material will be made available to you as an optional refresher. Your Green Belt program will show all of your Yellow Belt work has already been completed.
Is there a final exam?
There is no final exam, though there are several required quizzes throughout the program. There is also a practical application exercise for each of the topics presented.
