Gem­ba Academy’s Green Belt Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion was cre­at­ed to help Lean and Six Sig­ma prac­ti­tion­ers take their knowl­edge to the next lev­el. It rep­re­sents the first step toward becom­ing a Lean Leader, allow­ing learn­ers to become process improve­ment spe­cial­ists armed with the right tools and tac­tics for dri­ving mea­sur­able improve­ments with­in an organization.

Each Green Belt can­di­date will receive 47 hours of instruc­tion, and 12 hours of coaching.

Am I a good Green Belt candidate? 

A good Green Belt can­di­date has a strong inter­est in con­tin­u­ous improve­ment method­olo­gies, includ­ing sta­tis­ti­cal analy­sis, and is nev­er sat­is­fied with the sta­tus quo.

How long will it take to complete my Green Belt certification? 

The cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­gram con­sists of course­work, an exam, and an improve­ment project. Most can­di­dates com­plete the course­work and exam in 10 – 12 weeks. Projects typ­i­cal­ly range from 2 – 6 months.

How long will I have access to the learning materials online? 

The Green Belt cer­ti­fi­ca­tion course mate­ri­als will remain avail­able to you for 12-months.

How do I prepare for the exam? 

The best way to pre­pare for the 50-ques­tion, open book exam is to watch the videos, read the relat­ed overview doc­u­ments, and com­plete the course quizzes. We rec­om­mend devot­ing an hour per day to com­plet­ing the learn­ing material.

Do I need to work for a company to complete the Gemba Academy Green Belt Certification program? 

Many orga­ni­za­tions pay for can­di­dates to take this train­ing as it brings val­ue to the orga­ni­za­tion; how­ev­er, there’s no rule in place that bars learn­ers from pur­su­ing this cer­ti­fi­ca­tion on their own.

Will I need to complete a project? 

Yes, you’ll com­plete both a sim­u­lat­ed DMA­IC project and a real-world DMA­IC project with the sup­port of your Gem­ba Acad­e­my coach.

Are coaching sessions required? 

Yes, there are 12 required coach­ing ses­sions dur­ing instruc­tion, then week­ly coach­ing ses­sions are required through­out the project.

My employer is paying for me to get my certification. How will my sponsor/​champion be involved with my certification? 

A can­di­date’s inter­nal sponsor/​champion is the per­son respon­si­ble for invest­ing in your cer­ti­fi­ca­tion. The cham­pi­on is invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate in coach­ing ses­sions and project toll­gate reviews. The cham­pi­on is also noti­fied of major achieve­ments, such as pass­ing exams and receiv­ing your certification.
