Gemba Academy’s Green Belt Certification was created to help Lean and Six Sigma practitioners take their knowledge to the next level. It represents the first step toward becoming a Lean Leader, allowing learners to become process improvement specialists armed with the right tools and tactics for driving measurable improvements within an organization.
Each Green Belt candidate will receive 47 hours of instruction, and 12 hours of coaching.

Am I a good Green Belt candidate?
A good Green Belt candidate has a strong interest in continuous improvement methodologies, including statistical analysis, and is never satisfied with the status quo.
How long will it take to complete my Green Belt certification?
The certification program consists of coursework, an exam, and an improvement project. Most candidates complete the coursework and exam in 10 – 12 weeks. Projects typically range from 2 – 6 months.
How long will I have access to the learning materials online?
The Green Belt certification course materials will remain available to you for 12-months.
How do I prepare for the exam?
The best way to prepare for the 50-question, open book exam is to watch the videos, read the related overview documents, and complete the course quizzes. We recommend devoting an hour per day to completing the learning material.
Do I need to work for a company to complete the Gemba Academy Green Belt Certification program?
Many organizations pay for candidates to take this training as it brings value to the organization; however, there’s no rule in place that bars learners from pursuing this certification on their own.
Will I need to complete a project?
Yes, you’ll complete both a simulated DMAIC project and a real-world DMAIC project with the support of your Gemba Academy coach.
Are coaching sessions required?
Yes, there are 12 required coaching sessions during instruction, then weekly coaching sessions are required throughout the project.
My employer is paying for me to get my certification. How will my sponsor/champion be involved with my certification?
A candidate’s internal sponsor/champion is the person responsible for investing in your certification. The champion is invited to participate in coaching sessions and project tollgate reviews. The champion is also notified of major achievements, such as passing exams and receiving your certification.
