Am I a good candidate for a Black Belt certification?
A good Black Belt candidate has a strong interest in continuous improvement methodologies, including statistical analysis, and is never satisfied with the status quo. This person also aspires to lead others through continuous improvement projects.
How long is the training course?
We’ve found that most candidates complete the program in 8 – 10 months. That said, Gemba Academy’s Black Belt Certification program is self-guided, allowing learners to complete the course in their own time. Learners have access to the course content for a full calendar year from the time of purchase, giving them plenty of time to take in the course material and prepare for an exam.
Who is this program for?
Though Lean is traditionally associated with manufacturing, all Gemba Academy training programs are industry agnostic. Our video lessons can be adapted to fit any workplace environment, and are designed to help companies of all sizes and across industries drive and sustain continuous improvement efforts.
How do I prepare for the exam?
Our program is designed for sequential learning. We recommend watching the lessons in order and working through the supplemental material provided in each segment.
What happens if I’m not satisfied with my exam score?
You can review the incorrectly answered exam questions with your coach, repeat the video lessons on the respective topics and then repeat the exam. There is no charge for repeating the exam.
Will I need to complete a project?
Yes, you will complete both a simulated DMAIC project and a real-world DMAIC project for your organization with the support of your Gemba Academy coach.
My employer is paying for me to get my certification. How will my sponsor/champion be involved with my certification?
A candidate’s internal sponsor/champion is the person responsible for investing in your certification. The champion is invited to participate in coaching sessions and project tollgate reviews. The champion is also notified of major achievements, such as passing exams and receiving your certification.
