Built-In-Quality

Built-In Qual­i­ty is a Lean man­age­ment prac­tice that aims to proac­tive­ly address qual­i­ty issues before they turn into large-scale prob­lems by apply­ing con­tin­u­ous improve­ment tools to the pro­duc­tion process.

Instead of rely­ing on qual­i­ty inspec­tions to catch defects after the fact, Built-in Qual­i­ty aims to catch defects as they emerge, help­ing orga­ni­za­tions avoid issues like rework, wast­ing raw mate­ri­als, or dis­sat­is­fied customers.

While Built-in Qual­i­ty is a fun­da­men­tal build­ing block in any Lean orga­ni­za­tion, it’s one of the more advanced method­olo­gies in Lean management.
