In this course, which was filmed in front of a live audience, Mike Wroblewski a senior consultant for the Kaizen Institute, discusses 3P (Production Preparation Process) as it relates to the design of a new healthcare facility such as a hospital.
Throughout the course Mike explains what the 3P process is and how to go about it including topics such as "moonshining" and how to construct "mock-ups" before breaking ground.
And while the focus of this course is healthcare the concepts taught can be easily applied to any industry or type of work.
Please plan approximately 30 minutes of learning time for each module, including watching the video, taking the quiz, and reviewing supporting documents.

Module 1: 3P Production Preparation Process Overview
An overview of the 3P Production Preparation Process course with a particular focus on the healthcare industry.
Module 2: Who is our Customer?
Before 3P can happen we must understand who the customer is and what they expect. In this video we learn how one hospital staff actually gowned one of their staff members up and pretended she was a young patient with a head injury. The things the team learned as a result of this process were extensive.
Module 3: The 7 Flows of Healthcare
You will learn what the 7 Flows of Healthcare are and how they play a vital role in the 3P process.
Module 4: The 3P Steps
Mike Wroblewski explains what the steps of the 3P process while continuing to discuss the importance of understanding customer requirements.
Module 5: Collecting Data
In this module we learn how to collect data at the gemba, or the place the work is done.
Module 6: Collaborative Care
Learn the importance of collaborative care while also learning how to optimize the whole process and not just pieces of the process.
Module 7: Examples from Nature
In this module we learn how to look to nature for answers. Mike shares examples ranging from the way velcro was discovered to way clam shells influenced the design of casket hinges.
Module 8: Moonshining
Mike explains the so-called Moonshining process including where it came from as well as how to go about the moonshining process with your 3P team.
Module 9: Mockups
Mike explains the powerful process of using mockups to simulate new layouts before spending any money.
Module 10: Gap Analysis
Performing gap analysis, including how to deal with the idea that more space is the answer, is covered in this module.
Module 11: Wrap-up
Some final thoughts, including the importance of always being curious during the 3P process are covered in this module. Mike also fields questions from the audience to conclude the session.
